The name Cape Woolamai, was originally given by navigator George Bass in 1798 describing the area as 'a high and rather steep cape resembling a snapper's head. After a large swell, seagrass is swept around and the grows in abundance, during the next low tide the rocks at Magic Lands are covered in a fresh thick green as far as the eye can see.
